週話§日曜有閑～彼女は家を出て行く～ [ビートルズ]
ビートルズの“She's Leaving Home”は、彼らが作った中で最高傑作のアルバムと世評に高い『サージェント・ペパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブ・バンド』の中に収録された一曲である。
デイリーミラー紙に掲載された、ある一人の少女の家出のニュースを読んだポール・マッカートニーが、記事に触発されて作詞したのだったが、詩の内容を知れば知るほどこうした日常の淡々とした出来事が歌詞になるんだと、聴けば聴くほど驚嘆するのだ。どんな歌詞であるか下手糞な訳を試みたが、間違いもありそうで……まあ、こんなものだという様子を掴んでもらえればと思う。
そして死ぬほど美しい音楽。
